The addition of a third storey, basement garage, two storey extension and internal lift are just the start of what was carried out to bring this old home back to its glory days.
This old home in Oriental Bay was destined to become high rise apartments. Thanks to a team of designers, architects and the crew at David Prosser Building this house was transformed into a gem to be proud of.
A virtual re-build - with the addition of a third storey, basement garage, two storey extension out the back, three exquisite bathrooms and an internal lift shaft there wasn't anything that was left untouched.

A Home in the Hills
When you can't find exactly what you are looking for … build it from scratch
This bush section in the Lower Hutt Western Hills did not look like a site for a new house when it started out. The owners were driven by the desire to live in an established area, with existing bush and neighbouring houses rather than opting for a new sub-division. Their plans included challenges such as accommodating the existing landscape and a block feature wall running from outside to inside.
Excavation was a challenge, but once this house was out of the ground it was like it had always been there, and the final results were everything the owners could hope for.
Complete Rejuvenation
It is hard to capture the extent of the improvements made to this already beautiful Lower Hutt property.
With the addition of three bedrooms, a double garage with internal access, a rumpus extension, new driveway and gib relining to much of the house this house is now a property that the growing family can enjoy for many years.
The Need to Expand
House extension and alteration
A reasonable sized extension, along with removing some internal walls, created a huge new living space for a growing family. The revamped master bedroom and en-suite bathroom, plus new french doors at the front topped off this renovation. This project is a good example of how a small increase in the footprint of your home with some clever alterations can really improve the interior space.
A Backyard Transformation
Deck design and construction
The available outdoor living space was dramatically improved at this property in Wellington. Based on a basic drawing from the owner, a large deck was constructed around existing concrete retaining walls and French doors. The finished product created a seamless flow from the house to the garden.

The foundation of a great work space is good construction and design. We are always very proud to see the finished product once the hard work is complete, especially if they turn out as sparkly and amazing as these.
Open Plan Bliss
Extension and kitchen renovation
The living space of this home was significantly improved with a small extension and some new windows and doors, topped off with the installation of a beautiful new kitchen. The new open plan layout gives for a great family space, while the large PVC sliding door provides fantastic indoor outdoor flow.
Adding another level
Major renovations transformed this small old state house into something special.
Second storey addition in Lower Hutt. This three bedroom, ex-state house was completely transformed with the addition of a second storey bedroom with walk in wardrobe and ensuite, three sets of French doors on the downstairs level and two decks to finish off the living space.

Dave is an excellent builder and he is fantastic person to have on site too. The finished job is high quality, his rates are extremely competitive, and the site is cleaned up after each day. He gives good advice, is great at being creative and working within a tight budget and exploring different options to get a good cost effective solution. He has been helping us do up our house in stages. It is a wonky old bach house and other builders or contractors have just said pull it down or been frustrated by there being no straight lines, but Dave has been prepared to tackle this unenviable project and work with us to do much needed improvements in incremental stages. He is flexible to tackle issues that come up in a renovation, and nothing is an unsolvable problem for him. He also has lots of contacts in the field and coordinates and manages other trades (sparkies, plumbers etc) to get all aspects of the job done, which is really useful. We are very lucky to have him as a builder and would not hesitate to recommend him to others.

When we initially asked Dave to provide us with an estimate on what was involved in transforming our back yard with a large deck, all we had was a simple sketch and grand ideas.
